FRAGMENTATION / COLLAGE / SPATIAL CONCEPT – definitions

Fragmentation defined:

little bits and pieces that make a whole; there’s cohesion zoomed out, yet individual structures when zoomed in. there’s something inherently interactive about fragmental works, as you have to view multiple angles to understand it.

Collage defined:

Layered togetherness, in a multitude of ways and through all types of material. there’s an essence of composition that, to me, feels intuitive and out of my control, and thus will be brought out through trial and error.

Concept of space through these definitions:

Both fragmentation and collage invite a spatial approach: structures, movement, and perspectives change as layers reveal themselves; through the in-betweens, thresholds, and viewpoints. Translating collage into fragmented spatial forms is the central concept behind the space I’m designing.
