Thinking about my definition of fragmentation:
little bits and pieces that make a whole; there’s cohesion zoomed out, yet individual structures when zoomed in. there’s something inherently interactive about fragmental works, as you have to view multiple angles to understand it.
I started thinking on this spatially and in a way, all buildings are fragmented cohesion; Then the question became: What bits and pieces do I want to highlight as individual. What angles do I want to view it from? I started collecting bits and pieces that stuck out to me, photographing them, and collecting them on a page.
I think, by isolating elements from architectural and spatial systems: tiles from floors, windows from facades, handles from doors. Each fragment keeps a trace of its origin but becomes something else on its own, recognisable but foreign, evoking intrigue and exploration.
How do I then layer these elements? How do I get these elements? How do I layer them?
